Abstract:

This essay offers a theoretical synthesis of the ongoing socio-economic transition, articulating three intellectual traditions within a heuristic framework: the critique of political economy (from Marx to Sraffa to Romer), the theory of complex systems (Hopfield’s neural networks, Parisi’s spin glasses, Nobel Prize 2021), and the philosophy of the noosphere (Vernadsky, Bodrunov). The central argument is that Digitalism — the emerging socio-historical formation in which algorithms, data and cognitive capital (c_k) constitute the primary engine of value production — generates a dual structural contradiction: a crisis of realisation, due to the algorithmic erosion of labour income, and a crisis of governance, due to the monopolistic concentration of c_k in a few global platforms. This dual contradiction can be modelled as a seven-variable Hopfield system, whose attractors correspond to alternative social scenarios: Digitalism, Noocivilisation and the critical bifurcation point. The Transition has no predetermined outcome: the conditions for steering it towards Noocivilisation require structural interventions on the most connected node of the system — knowledge capital
