Abstract:

The article analyzes the evolution of the integration process in the economic sector, primarily in terms of actions aimed at uniting disparate parts into a cohesive whole in order to improve the efficiency of their activities. It is emphasized that the basic theory of integration since the 60s of the last century has been the theory by B. Balassa, which substantiated that integration goes from simple to complex, from a free trade zone to an economic union, the pinnacle of which is a vulgar incorporation. The underlying motive for this vision of development prospects was the confrontation in the context of bipolarity between developed economies and countries of the socialist camp, and the decisive element was the ability of the USSR to mobilize resource, industrial and human potential in the shortest possible time to repel any attacks from enemies. Developed nations did not have such a mobilization capacity, and according to B. Balassa, the integration movement along the path he proposed should ensure both the sustainability of development and the ability to mobilize resources on an urgent basis. The transition of the world community to polycentrism determines the enhancement of the role and significance of the state as an institution of regulation at the national and international levels, based on the concept of complete sovereignty. In this regard, the loss of part of national sovereignty as a result of the development of integration does not meet the determinants of polycentrism development. This article analyzes a number of existing integration associations in terms of preserving the national sovereignty of their member countries, and draws the appropriate conclusions.
