Abstract:
This article presents the role and importance of the quality as a socioeconomic category, which is the basis for social development. The scientific field – Quality Economics developed by the author is presented, the main elements of which are metrology, standardization and quality management. Their importance for economic development and improvement of the quality of life is revealed. In Saint Petersburg, the experience of creating a multilevel system of training of specialists in the field of quality is demonstrated
